Perhaps you’ve dreamed of being up close and personal with some of the world’s most incredible wildlife? The National Zoo & Aquarium offers up close and personal Animal Encounters* that are sure to get your heart racing!

Choose from individual meetings with Sun Bears, White Lions, Giraffe, Red Pandas, Otters, Tigers and even Sharks! Or perhaps the award winning Zooventure Tour, one of the most hands-on zoo experiences available in Australia is more your style. The Zooventure is a 2 hour behind the scenes guided tour that offers participants over 12 years the opportunity to feed a variety of amazing animals, and experience a bounty of rare and close-up encounters.

Highlights of the tour include feeding the resident white lions, coming nose to nose with a giraffe, having the enormous brown bears lick honey from your fingers and feeling the amazing texture of a python’s skin as one creeps over you! Other animals usually included are tigers, dingoes, eland, cougars and otters.

If you have children under 10, then your whole clan can experience the Family Tour. This tour, similar to the Zooventure, encompasses the best of the zoo in a relaxed and safe atmosphere. Designed particularly for Families with younger children, participants go behind the scenes to meet and feed some of the zoos favourite animals.

Older children can also “Meet a Cheetah”. During your experience, participants are in the same enclosure as the unrestrained cheetahs, and are able to have hands-on contact, and to pat and play with one of these amazing cats! At all times an experienced Zookeeper is with you to answer your questions and guide you as you interact with this incredible animal.
