We love Floriade. The Canberra festival is super fun for kids with stunning flower displays, great cubbies to explore and carnival rides.
Floriade will be held in Canberra’s Commonwealth Park from 15 September to 14 October 2018.
This year’s theme is Pop Culture and will feature retro-inspired flowerbeds that will showcase famous 20th Century film, literature and media figures. Expect to see visions of Marilyn Munroe, Where’s Wally and a Rubiks’s Cube in amongst the colourful blooms.
For families, Floriade will have a free Kids Club on during the school holidays as well as the ever popular petting zoo. If you have a child who loves dogs, consider coming to the festival on October 14. That’s the always popular dog’s day out, featuring a superhero or pop culture dress up theme. Dress-up with your dog to go into the draw to win the Best Dressed Award.
Kids will love the carnival rides with the giant slide and the Ferris wheel expected to be back in 2018.
Nightfest will also be back in 2018 for five nights from Wednesday 26 September to Sunday, September 30. Expect illuminated flower beds, food and drink stalls and nightly entertainment. On Wednesday night, grab some popcorn and a blanket for the open-air cinema. Thursday and Friday nights have live music. And Saturday is a child-friendly dance party.
