Big White has long been the ideal location for people looking for a ski holiday that provides for the whole family. With over 750cm of 100% natural, dry and fluffy snow every year you’ll enjoy endless days of fresh lines. Off the slopes you’ll find activities for the entire family including night skiing, snow tubing, dog sledding, snowmobiling and ice-skating at Canada’s highest outdoor rink to name a few.
The ski resort pretty much lives up to its name of being “big” with 1,147 hectares (2,655 acres) of terrain, 105km of marked runs, 118 designated trails, and 16 lifts, the size of the ski area is nothing to be sneezed at. The official trail stats are 18% beginner, 54% intermediate, 22% advanced and 6% expert. About 32% of the Big White ski area is groomed so it is an absolute paradise for intermediates and it’s also fantastic for beginners.
However there is plenty of single black diamond runs for advanced riders in the form of moguls and off-piste terrain amongst the many trees and some of the gnarly entrances into the steep alpine bowl will keep experts on their toes. Another claim to fame is the haunting “snow ghosts”; snow blasted trees that take on all sorts of intriguing shapes.
Big White is home to Canada’s largest ski-in/ski-out village meaning that all properties offer doorstep access to the slopes. Accommodation options range from hotel-style to condos that often include private balconies and hot tubs – the perfect way to end your day!
