Take two movie loving littlies and add cake. Pour in a little pink lemonade and a shot of hot chocolate and the result is one very happy morning for my kids. We’re at the Langham, Sydney for their decadent and divine Little Mermaid Morning Tea.

Marlo and her Little mermaid book

To celebrate the launch of family favourite The Little Mermaid on Blu-ray, The Langham, Sydney is hosting an exquisite under the sea morning tea that every little girl (and boy) will love.

A fantasy feast

The morning tea is hosted in a beautiful room, where the kids are offered a hot chocolate and a babycino to start and happily begin to colour the Little Mermaid colouring sheets oblivious to what’s headed their way. Pencils drop and voices squeal when they see their multi-tiered morning tea arrive.

Given they’re rarely allowed sweet treats, they are so excited they don’t even know where to start - though my two-year old has her eye on the crowning glory of bottles of pretty pink lemonade.

Dainty ham and cheese triangles nestle alongside dazzling starfish fairy bread and chocolate chip scones are just begging to be filled from the huge pots of strawberry jam and cream.

But it is the top shelf that is the party pleaser with Sebastian macarons, flounder crackles, bright blue under the sea jelly, cute clam shell cookies and amazingly decorated Atlantica chocolate fudge cupcakes.

Munchies for mum

Mum doesn’t miss out either as a platter of adult deliciousness is delivered to the table resplendent with perfect sandwiches, fluffy scones and pretty petit fours, not to mention a selection of beautiful tea – something this particular mother can’t function without.

In fact, there’s so much beautiful food that even after taking a break for story time, we can’t make it through all the gorgeous goodies on offer. But never fear the helpful maitre d' discreetly hands us a little container for us to take home the leftover treats, along with a copy of the very Little Mermaid book they’ve just been read and a certificate of attendance.
After all that refinery we’re off to the park to get covered in mud, burn off all that sugar and, while no-one’s looking, scoff another macaron or two.
