Little Darlings Night Owls Kids Film Festival

Head to the Village Green at Sydney’s Darling Quarter between January 7 and January 22, 2013 and catch some great kids flicks including Finding Nemo, Wall-E, Fantastic Mr. Fox, ET and The Muppet Movie. Night Owls has also partnered with Australia’s major kids short film festival, Little Big Shots, and will feature a fifteen-minute showcase of short films before each night of the festival’s duration. Kids films begin at 6.45pm.

Sydney Olympic Park presents 6 blockbuster family nights at their outdoor cinema through summer. January 2, 5, 9, 10, 11 & 12, 2013 are all about kids! The fun activities begin pre-movie at 6pm with face painting, balloon-bending, arts and crafts with a $2 donation to Starlight Children’s Foundation. See Alvin & The Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, Hotel Transylvania, Ice Age: Continental Drift, Brave and more under the stars.

Kids aged 3-12 will have fun with FREE Clue Trail – ‘Flying High’,using a map to collect clues and solve the hidden message on the elevated Brickpit Ring Walk.

Celebrate Australia Day January 26

Sydney Olympic Park Authority and Auburn City Council will present a ripper of an event on Australia Day 2013 from 12noon – 9.00pm at beautiful Bicentennial Park at Sydney Olympic Park. There will be a smorgasbord of food stalls, sheep shearing, whip cracking, sheep dog trial shows, an animal farm, kangaroo characters, pony and amusement rides, face-painting, kids’ acts, Indigenous dance and art workshops, a community bazaar and craft stalls.

On the main stage watch the Aboriginal dance ceremony, colonial dance performance, music by the Tuckitinya Bush Band, a modern Australiana-themed dance act by the Whiz Kidz, the hilarious Leo Bonne’s Kids’ Circus and Magic Show as well as the Bollywood Sensations.

Australia Day @ Bicentennial Park

From 6.35pm, the Rhythms of Polynesia drum and dance group and the beats and dance of African group, Chosani Afrique, will get energy-levels up high, before an Aussie rock covers show by the Stingybark band fires-up the crowd for a spectacular fireworks finale to the celebrations at 8.50pm – and there’s So much more!

FREE BBQ facilities are available at Bicentennial Park so bring the family for a wonderful day out to mark Australia’s special day!

Sydney Festival family-friendly activities

From January 5- January 28, 2013 Sydney comes alive with fabulous summer family fun as part of the annual Sydney Festival. With a huge programs of events in and around Sydney, there are plenty of free activities and entertainment to enjoy! Welcome the arrival of the giant bobbing artwork, “Rubber Duck” at Darling Harbour with music and dancing or make yourself heard in Parramatta where 25 bright red megaphones will create a fun audio playground for young and old.

Phineas & Ferb’s Brilliant Backyard Event

Bringing the exciting universe of Phineas & Ferb to Parramatta, Disney Channel is giving kids the chance to enjoy free interactive activities and heaps of fun from January 11 to January 13, 2013 at Westfield Parramatta. Get zapped by Phineas & Ferb’s latest invention, the Photo-Inator (every child receives a free photo frame) build a Platy-Plane and play Phineas and Ferb games!


Disney Live! Mickey’s Rockin’ Road Show

The annual Disney Live show is not to be missed! Hit the road with Mickey Mouse and friends for a hilarious talent search that takes the gang on a road trip with audience participation! Cinderella, Tigger, Buzz Lightyear and Woody and all of your favourite Disney characters will be there. 2013 Kids at the House

The Sydney Opera House once again brings its wonderful Kids in the House program to life with great entertainment for kids aged 2-15 years. As part of its commitment to improving disability access, SOH will provide an access program including autism-friendly performances and pre-show sensory touch tours of the stage for young people who are blind and vision-impaired.

Delight New Year’s Eve on Sydney Harbour

Sydney’s Bradleys Head (Mosman) will be transformed into a family-friendly enchanted forest for New Year’s Eve – complete with magical lighting and roving entertainment and theatre with a spectacular playground of light and theatre as part of the Delight NYE experience.The event will be alcohol-free and have fabulous views of the Sydney Harbour fireworks and provides families with a fun, safe area to celebrate New Year’s Eve.

Australian National Maritime Museum

The ANMM opens its brand new outdoor family play area – WetWorld – on December 28 until February 28, 2013! Kids will have loads of fun in two zones catering for under sevens and seven to 14 year olds. Little ones enter through the spray arch, dance through the fountains then relax under the mist umbrellas. Big kids can continue on to the super soakers zone to battle it out in a special water combat marquee complete with water cannons and giant water pistols.

WetWorld runs alongside the interactive exhibition, Ships and the Sea, where children can learn to be captains in a range of hands-on displays exploring the science of ships and shipping. Plus there’s the already popular Pirates! kids adventure land.

The museum is also offering a full program of school holiday activities for children of all ages including daily Sailing with Swashbucklers! pirate craft activities.
