With the London 2012 Olympic Games around the corner, Kids in the Park at Sydney Olympic Park is the ultimate winter warm-up program to stimulate and excite junior sports stars of all ages and abilities, every day of the school holidays from Saturday 30 June – Sunday 15 July 2012 (inclusive).

From swimming to soccer, gymnastics, golf, tennis, trampolining and so much more, the Kids in the Park winter 2012 activities line-up boasts more than 50 options – including heaps of FREE and good-value activities at less than $20.

For children who are looking to develop a keen eye and precise grip, Kids on Target – Archery is the ideal activity to take aim and hone those arrow shooting skills to perfection! Classes will be held from 2-13 July at 11am, 1pm and 2.30pm, when participants will learn the basics of bow and arrows, with all equipment and instruction provided for only $16.

FREE of charge footy fun will kick-off at 9am at Wentworth Common, where AFL Clinics will take place on 3 and 5 July and FREE Rugby League Clinics will also be held on 4 and 11 July. Bookings are essential for either clinic, which will comprise fun games and exercises to help kids progress their skills, get active and make new friends to-boot.

Kids aged 5-15 will get to improve their coordination and learn how to fly through the air with the greatest of ease during Flying Trapeze lessons every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Circus Skills will also be taught in the Leisure Garden of the world-famous Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre from 2-6 and 9-13 July.

Inside the Aquatic Centre where it is always a comfortable 26 degrees, experienced Swimming and Diving instructors will teach kids skills to stay water wise; and Splasher’s Water Playground will be open every day with water jets, cannons, slides, a bubble beach, huge dumping bucket, river rapids ride and inflatable obstacle courses for just $6 entry per child.

At the Sydney Olympic Park Sports Halls on 10 July, kids aged 8-14 will be able to learn Badminton for Beginners from 10.30am-12.30pm, before Badminton Skills Development will be offered from 12.30pm for kids who know how to play but want to lift their game with the help of a qualified coach.

NEW to the Kids in the Park program is a three-day, two-night Teen Gym Residential Camp run by the YMCA of Sydney. Designed for 12-16 year olds, the camp will include traditional activities such as campfire and orienteering as well as circuit training, outdoor fitness, healthy cooking classes and leadership workshops to enhance the skills of tomorrow’s top athletes and budding global leaders. The cost to attend the camp is $225 per person, inclusive of all meals, activities and accommodation at the Sydney Olympic Park Lodge from 9-11 July.

Younger kids aged 4-12 can also try their hand at all kinds of team-sports and even move to the groove at Cathy Freeman Park, where the loveable and upbeat Sports Star and Dancing Star will have smiles shining bright (for FREE!) every weekday morning. Loads of laughs will also be heard on the 18-hole Mini Golf course at the Sydney Olympic Park Golf Centre, where it costs only $6 per person to play, with balls, a putter and score card included!

For an unforgettable experience the whole family will enjoy, the ANZ Stadium Explore Tour is just the ticket. With behind-the-scenes access to player-only areas, photo-opportunities on the Olympic medal dais and even an exciting laser show, the 90 minute tour will be available most days of the holidays, with a varied schedule on Stadium Event Days.

In addition to activities for sports-fans, Kids in the Park is designed to cater to kids of ALL interests. Those with a creative streak will relish the Kids in the Park range of Writing Workshops, cooking classes and arts and crafts lessons. Nature-loving families will also find educational and affordable fun at Olympic Park, where FREE Discovery Trails and other adrenalin-fueling activities are bound to amuse Adventurous kids too.
