From January 7 to January 25, the museum presents Ghosts of Memory Cove, a thrilling, interactive children’s performance with dancers, actors, puppets and even spooky videos for all ages and FREE with Museum Entry. Monday to Friday at 11.30am and 1.30pm.
A favourite with visitors from around Australia and overseas, this delightful children’s zoo is a hands-on petting and feeding experience kids just love! With over 120 animals from nursery-sized newborns to doe-eyed, docile fallow deer, there are photo opportunities a-plenty to be had on a day out at Adelaide Children’s Zoo.
The annual Disney Live show is not to be missed! Hit the road with Mickey Mouse and friends for a hilarious talent search that takes the gang on a road trip with audience participation! Until January 6, 2013 witness the spectacle that is the astonishing Cirque du Soleil in OVO. Great fun for the whole family – the kids will be amazed by, and immersed in, a miniature world of insects! Under the Big Top at Tambawodli (next to Ellis Park), Sir Donald Bradman Drive, Adelaide.
The Gardens’ school holiday program begins January 8 and runs through to January 24, 2012 for kids 5-12 years. Join in the FREE Making Fire, Making Glue workshop; try Leaf Sculpture, Dinosaur Garden Snow Globes or Bird Seed Feeders fun for only $10 each or Paint a Pot. Plants Some Food for only $5.
Bringing the indoors outdoors, the museum is planning some fun in the sun on the front lawns from January 14 to January 25, 2013 between 10am and 5pm. Handle collection items, splash and cool off in the rock pools and try your hand at Roman games as part of the summer exhibition Built Tough: The Awesome Roman Empire.
The Semaphore Summer Carnival is held each year during the school holidays. From 11am daily, there are thrill rides, dodgem cars, bungy trampolines, water balls and amusements for the whole family. Entry is free however charges apply to all amusements and rides.
FREE fireworks displays are held on New Year’s Eve at midnight and Australia Day at 9.30pm. This is a dry area event supported by the City of Port Adelaide Enfield and is great for families.
Sunday is a fun day at Semaphore in January with free children’s entertainment at 2pm. There are themed shows, magicians, street performers and entertainers.
From January 8 to January 25, 2013 the Whale Centre offers holiday programs for kids aged 5 – 12 years (younger children may participate if supervised by an adult) on Tuesday and Friday each week. Programs include hands-on science based experiments, activities and mind-boggling feats of science, magic and discovery developed around different marine themes. Bookings are essential.
You can’t go wrong with a good movie and a bucket of popcorn. There are several movies that are scheduled to be released during the school holidays that will be popular with the PG crowd. Coming soon is Wreck-It Ralph on December 26 and Monsters, Inc 3D on January 17. Rise of the Guardians is out now.
Wallis Cinemas also holds a very popular Kids Movie Disco. It is a supervised lock in with a new release movie and lots of fun.
