Canberra officially became Australia’s capital in 1913 – 100 years ago! Visitors to Canberra are always delighted, and enlightened, by the city’s extraordinary historical and cultural landmarks including Parliament House, the National Gallery, The Australian War Memorial, Questacon and, of course, the annual Floriade display.
This year there is even more happening in Canberra as the city toasts the Centenary of Federation with all manner of family-friendly events and celebrations, kicking off in Autumn with the third annual Enlighten events.
Some of the capital’s most iconic buildings will be opening their doors after closing time to host exclusive events and surprising experiences set against stunning architectural projections throughout Canberra’s Parliamentary Triangle.
There will be live jazz, shadow puppet comedy, indigenous dance and evening nature tours as well as FREE late night access to many of Canberra’s favourite attractions including Questacon, Parliament House, the National Portrait Gallery and the National Archives.
Enlighten runs from 1 March to 9 March, 2013. For the full program of events visit enlightencanberra.com
