Fans of the hit ABC TV show have the chance to spend a weekend in Bluey’s house, writes ANGELA SAURINE
One lucky Australian family will have the opportunity to stay in a recreated version of Bluey’s house in Brisbane – for one weekend only. Holiday rental company Airbnb is offering the exclusive experience in the Heeler family home as part of its Only on Airbnb program, which aims to give guests unique, once in a lifetime, money-can’t-buy experiences. This is the first time an Only on Airbnb experience has been offered in Australia, with previous experiences including a stay in Carrie’s apartment from Sex and the City and the house from Home Alone in the US.
Bluey’s house details
Nestled on a quiet, tree-lined street in one of the most picturesque neighbourhoods in the city which inspired the show’s colourful backdrop, the house is full of quirky details fans will recognise from the hit ABC TV show, including the red letterbox, bone-adorned chimney and bay window. The girls’ playroom, with its signature rainbow canopy, kiwi rug and numerous toys (including Bluey’s beloved Chattermax toy and Magic Xylophone) is the ultimate setting for creative play. Escape to the backyard and you’ll find an oasis for family games, like Horsey Ride and Keepy Uppy, with a barbecue, trampoline, Grannies’ car, custom toadstool seats and bespoke dog garden gnomes. After all that exploring, head to the kitchen stocked with yummy treats; including Magic Asparagus, plenty of fruit (Bluey’s favourite!) and Bandit’s famous duck cake.
Sleep in Bluey and Bingo’s room!
Kids can stay overnight in Bluey and Bingo’s bedroom, snuggling down for sleepytime in two single beds beneath a custom stained-glass window, surrounded by colourful hanging lanterns, cloud cushions and a hand-crafted watermelon rug. Once the putdown’s done, and the kids are tucked up with Bingo’s floppy and Grey Dancer, parents can retreat to Bandit and Chilli’s airy and plant-filled master bedroom – complete with queen-sized bed, rattan furnishings and neutral tones.
How to book
The house will be available to book at 8AM AEDT on February 15. The two-night stay, sleeping two adults and two children, will take place from February 18 to 20 for only $20 dollarbucks. It includes an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the Ludo Studio, where Bluey is created; a Chinese takeaway feast (don’t forget the spring rolls!), an afternoon decorating the Heelers’ famous duck cake, and a puppet making craft session featuring Bluey’s famous Bob Bilby character.
Online workshop
Those who miss out on the stay can take part in a unique and interactive online experience hosted by Bluey composer Jazz D’Arcy and children’s choreographer Cherie Lang. The online workshop will have guests dancing, singing and laughing as they recreate some of the most beloved songs and dance moves from the show. Click here for more: airbnb.com.au
