Family camping South African-style!

You really appreciate the true meaning of the saying, “The Great Outdoors” when you camp within South Africa’s Kruger National Park. Five star camping in this incredible place is the perfect way to give your family a camping experience for a lifetime of memories.

The almost-2 million hectare park was established in 1898 to protect the wildlife of the South African Lowveld and that includes 49 fish, 34 amphibians, 114 reptiles, 507 birds and 147 mammals!

Bush lodges and campsites allow visitors to immerse themselves in this unique environment and experience first-hand the beauty of the natural world without disturbing the delicate, and spectacular, ecosystem. How fortunate for us!

There is nothing quite like sitting on the verandah of your luxury tent listening to the sounds of the South African bush at night. Listening to the crash and crunch of elephants eating nearby or the unbeatable thrill of hearing a lion pride roar whilst you and the kids lie snug in your beds. Camping in Kruger, what a fantastic family glamping experience. Put it on your #sabucketlist.

Last week I was a world away on an unforgettable adventure staying at the fabulous Honeyguide Tented Safari Camps – and was lucky enough to capture some amazing images.

Take a look at, and listen closely to, the video – this really was an up-close encounter with three lions, calling territory – so near I could have touched them! Wow!
