New Thrills at Thredbo: Alpine Coaster Launching Winter 2024

Thredbo’s 1.5km Alpine Coaster will take snow holidays to thrilling new heights starting in winter 2024. Here’s what families can expect from the new ride.

Thredbo is taking snow holidays to new heights in the 2024 ski season with the launch of the Southern Hemisphere’s first year-round Alpine Coaster.

A thrilling addition to EVT’s Thredbo Resort, this new attraction is already under construction and is set to welcome families this winter. Spanning a total of 1.5km, the toboggan-themed ride is a year-round, all-weather addition to Thredbo’s range of fun-filled holiday experiences.

Running from 8 June until 7 October, the 2024 ski season is set to be Thredbo’s biggest yet – read all about it below!

What to expect from Thredbo’s Alpine Coaster

With the power to control your bobsled’s speed, reaching up to 40km/h, the Alpine Coaster is designed to cater to every member of the family. Dial up the excitement on the track’s twists and turns, or take a more leisurely cruise through tunnels, bridges, and circles, surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery.

Kids over eight and taller than 135cm can ride solo, while children from three to eight years old can ride as a passenger alongside a responsible driver over 15. It’s easy to add the experience to your Thredbo lift pass bookings.

Thredbo creates memorable family experiences

Thredbo’s General Manager, Stuart Diver, says this exciting addition aligns with the resort’s focus on premium experiences that allow guests to ‘escape the ordinary’.

“The Alpine Coaster is set to add a new dimension to every guest’s visit,” said Mr Diver. “It will be a hugely exciting on-snow experience in winter, and it will build upon our wide range of outdoor adventures in summer as a drawcard for new tourists to the village in the shoulder seasons.”

As a year-round attraction, the Alpine Coaster adds one more fantastic reason to visit the Snowy Mountains resort outside ski season, reinforcing that this beautiful slice of New South Wales is Australia’s premier destination for family adventure.

Independent third-party engineers will conduct rigorous safety tests on the Alpine Coaster during the latter part of Autumn, ensuring everything is perfect for the attraction’s debut.
