IGA Lord Mayor's Carols in the City


This FREE Christmas event for the whole family will be held at Brisbane Riverstage on Saturday, December 14 and commences at 7.15pm. Featuring Paulini, Jack Vidgen, Debra Byrne plus there are FREE sample bags for the first 6,000. Gates open at 5pm and pre-show entertainment begins at 5.30pm.

Chill Out - for kids 10-17


Chill Out is one of Brisbane's most popular youth programs with a great variety of FREE and LOW-COST recreation activities for kids and teenagers between 10 and 17 years old. Story Time in The Gardens


Little ones will love the setting - in the Brisbane Botanic Gardens - with story time sessions under the big shady fig tree on the Wedding Lawn.

Before or after story time, kids can explore the self-guided Hide 'n' Seek children's trail (about 20 minutes).

Falling Back to Earth


Queensland Art Gallery/Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) is presenting this amazing exhibition throughout the holidays. Tweens to teens will marvel at this awesome exhibition and can also learn about the artist, Cai Guo-Qiang, and participate in his exciting working methods to create their own exhibition – making objects in miniature gallery spaces and creating spectacular multimedia gunpowder drawings and fireworks events.

Inaugural Christmas Night Markets and Christmas Movie Night

On December 20-22 you can enjoy Broadwater's first ever Christmas Night Markets from 4.30pm-9.30pm and on December 21 enjoy the great family flick "Arthur Christmas" (Rated G") from 7pm-9pm.

Both the markets and the movies are on The Great Lawn at Broadwater Parklands.

The Sunshine Coast is ready and raring to go during school holidays with extra-fun activities and holiday programs, usually FREE, or at affordable prices. The kids can go to the beach, ride bikes and scooters along smooth-surfaced bike paths, or test their skill at skate parks.


Treat the kids to a trip to Aussie World, Australia Zoo, Underwater World Big Kart Track, The Ginger Factory, Top Shots, Bellingham Maze, GoWake Cable Park, or the unique Indoor Skate park.


The Sunshine Coast Council also runs FREE school holiday programs, so there are plenty of holiday activities to keep the kids entertained.
