Summer is here and Australian kids welcome the start of the super Summer School Holidays - the longest break in the school calendar.

The biggest challenge for parents is keeping the kids entertained and happy during the long break and not blowing the budget in the process!

Of course it is also a time for family fun and the festive season, which kicks off the school holidays, affords families plenty of opportunity to get involved in some of the many FREE events in and around major cities and in wonderful local and community Christmas celebrations.

We've put together our pick of CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS, including Carols in all sorts of unique locations, visit Santa opportunities, Christmas markets, fireworks, giant trees, carousels, activities, spectacular sights and lights and more to entice your family out and about, together, as we edge towards the New Year!

Our wrap-up of what's on where during the school holidays covers every age group, every type of activity, every budget and every State and Territory!

Nationally - keep an eye out for fantastic LIVE SHOWS at a venue near you - including Disney Live! Mickey's Magic Show and don't miss Disney's magical new animated feature film, FROZEN.

From all of us at Out & About with Kids to you and your family - have a safe and Happy Festive Season and enjoy the holidays.

We look forward to seeing you back in 2014 when we'll be bringing you EVEN MORE fantastic family-friendly holidays, travel, entertainment, attractions, tips, guides, news and activities!
